As a designer, Ben is always looking for meaning, pattern, and proportion. He believes each building or space has a story to tell and enjoys the challenge of finding the major themes and small details. Throughout his nearly ten years of experience in Milwaukee and Chicago, Ben has equally enjoyed time spent working through design and time spent walking the construction site, where the realization of drawn work contributes to his constant desire to improve. Ben has extensive experience participating in all design and construction phases on new construction, historical preservation, and adaptive reuse projects. His eagerness to learn about new architectural products and technologies stems from his master’s education, where he earned accolades for his research on and development of conceptual low-skill building technologies, and was recognized as a top graduate with the AIA Henry Adams Medal. Ben received his undergraduate and master’s degrees from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee’s School of Architecture and Urban Planning, and joined Stephen Perry Smith in 2018. While not at work, Ben enjoys cooking for his wife and kids, working on their yard, attending Brewer’s games, and listening to the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.
