Stephen Perry Smith Architects, Inc. was founded by Stephen Perry Smith in 1992 as a development, design and construction consulting firm. Smith formed the business model to include master planning, consulting on numerous business parks, the design of commercial office and light industrial buildings. Steve Smith also provides owner representation services for the design and construction of parking structures and schools, and Lender representation on numerous multi-family developments. By 2000, the firm evolved to provide high quality architectural services responsive to the needs of owners, developers, corporations and tenants throughout the design and construction process. Steve Smith has grown the company into a successful award-winning architectural firm, characterized by the respect that its architects and designers have for their clients, and by the importance of client and team member collaboration and communication throughout the process. Stephen Perry Smith Architects’ desires to provide the highest level of service with a passion-driven focus to architecture that works within the financial and time constraints of each project. Stephen Perry Smith Architects’ portfolio speaks for itself as a growing body of work that reflects the collective vision of many talented team members with a common goal: to achieve a successful project for all. Its founder feels honored to be of service and to work with so many fine people in this industry. Steve graduated from the University of Illinois School of Architecture in 1977, developing a unique professional background from experience in both “the office” and “the field” from a broad variety of firms and projects. During the 80’s he served as the in-house architect and construction manager for Owner/Developer Trammell Crow Company and was actively involved in the design and construction of approximately 3,000,000 square feet of commercial space, including a 30-story mixed use development called Milwaukee Center, and numerous business parks including Park Place and Brookfield Lakes Corporate Center. In the early 90’s, Steve served as the on-site project manager for Owner/Developer, The Rubin Companies, in the development of 1000 North Water Street a 24 story mixed-use project. Steve currently lives in Mequon with his wife, Alex, and the couple own a part-time second home in the mountains of North Carolina. Steve has been a Mequon resident for over 35 years. Steve is the proud father of four daughters, two stepdaughters, and a stepson – all who have moved out of the house, so now he is the proud parent of two dogs. Steve’s other family are his employees who he feels blessed to work alongside.
