The Preserve at Prairie Creek Apartments

The Preserve at Prairie Creek is a luxury apartment community located in Wisconsin’s exclusive lake country. SPSA was able to convince the City of Oconomowoc to increase its density without compromising scale through the creation of an innovative walk-up multifamily prototype. This product features direct access to the units by the tenants by either attached or detached garages. 

The use of an “Arts and Crafts” architectural style on this project makes reference to the buildings in Oconomowoc, especially by the incorporation of stone and horizontal clapboard siding. Character-giving elements such as columns and trellises accent this architectural vernacular. The use of color also provides visual identity and vibrancy to each cluster of buildings, which are juxtaposed to create courtyards. 

This popular walk-up-style apartment has become a prototype that reduces the amount of pavement required around each building, with less corridors and direct access to units. The variety of unit sizes cater to a number of lifestyles offering individual entries, private attached garages, and a patio or balcony with strategically placed views.
